Are you 1 in 14?
What would you do if you found out you had a newly discovered retrovirus (there are only 2 others, one being HIV) that showed a strong link to the illness that had been attacking your body for the past 20 years, and your government seemed to be trying to bury the information from the general public, even though there a...re strong indications that 1 in 14 people may already carry this virus and not even know it??? That's where I find myself. That's why I'm fighting!
Will you please join me? (Even if you feel perfectly healthy today, you could be that 1 in 14, waiting for something to trigger your immune system to activate this retrovirus!)

Help Me Beat XMRV!
Thank you for helping me attend this vital fundraiser last year. Could you please help me out again? I would like to purchase two tickets to attend the "I Hope You Dance" fundraiser gala with my wonderful husband on Sept. 10, 2010.
I need to raise $500. Proceeds from this gala go to Whittemore Peterson Institute (WPI) to continue groundbreaking research for XMRV. Could you please help me raise the money to purchase our tickets? Anything you can share would be a blessing - $1, $5, $10, $50. Last year one generous friend actually shared $400 and that together with many more smaller gifts got us there! (If I can't raise enough to attend, I promise to still pass along any/all money raised here directly to WPI, but I really would love to raise the whole $500!)
I am positive for the third known infectious human retrovirus (HIV causing AIDS and HTLV leading to a form of leukemia, are the other two), XMRV. WPI published a paper last October in one of the world's leading medical journals showing how they had found a link between XMRV and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS).
Having lived with CFS for 20 years, a retrovirus makes so much sense in explaining why I've been so very sick for so very long. WPI needs ongoing funding to keep moving forward and helping me and so many others like me find hope for a cure.
